Xtranormal; Video Making Websites
A fun free website to make a few videos of your own. They are very entertaining. After a few, you will run out of points and either have to sign in using a different e-mail, or open a paying account.
Another easy, fun video making website is: http://goanimate.com/
This one is great for presentations, e-mails and blogs: http://www.voki.com/ , where you can create your own personalized, speaking avatar.
Prezi, the Zooming Presenter
When I first saw this, I was not impressed. I thought I should give it a chance, and I now believe it has an extremely useful place in presentations.
Basically you make a poster, everything you want is shown on your poster. Then you start moving around the poster and it zooms in on what you are talking about. You may insert typing, word docs, music, pictures and videos. It will move around the poster automatically or you may choose to move manually.
My husband had me make one for one of his presentations to a client, and it was very effective.

Screen Captures
These two free websites provide the tools to create short videos ( 3 minutes or less) that capture what is on your screen, allow you to add voice over, and then save or share it. These two do not involve any downloads. These are wonderful for instructional videos for those people who are visual learners.

This website, Jing by Techsmith, has a free service but also has a paid service with more accessories. It does require downloads. It is probably considered the "Cadillac" of screen captures. We do have some computers with Jing on them.

The Wonder of Google
This is a website that categorizes and provides links to google sites available (for free!) according to Blooms taxonomy. Google is amazing.

Tiny Url
This tool allows you to take a long complicated url address and make it into a short address. An added plus: you get to choose your url address like our St Anthony Reads group chose tinyurl/STAReads. This will make it easy for placement on your website or blog, and students to type in themselves.

Edmodo
Edmodo is a free private social platform for education. It provides a secure and trusted environment, social learning for the classroom, a place to share ideas, files and assignments, including a schedule and calendar for assignments, a place to post docs and web links as well as ask questions of the teacher and students, a way to monitor who has done what and it includes mobile access and messenging. It is much like students will use if they take on-line university classes. It would be a great introduction to this type of learning...http://www.edmodo.com/
