Edmodo
Edmodo is a free private social platform for education. It provides a secure and trusted environment, social learning for the classroom, a place to share ideas, files and assignments, including a schedule and calendar for assignments, a place to post docs and web links as well as ask questions of the teacher and students, a way to monitor who has done what and it includes mobile access and messenging. It is much like students will use if they take on-line university classes. It would be a great introduction to this type of learning...http://www.edmodo.com/
Helpful Teacher Websites
Think Finity: http://www.thinkfinity.org/
Lesson plans, widgets, education articles and "Today in History" Calendar. The widgets provide unique on-line activities. Try it out
ABC Tools (http://www.abcteach.com/abctools_home.php) and EdHelper (http://www.edhelper.com/ ) both provide help making handouts and some lesson plans. Many things are limited unless you sign up.
Other attendees shared their state links with us including Learn NC (http://www.learnnc.org/); Calisphere (http://www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu/ ) and Sunlink (http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/). North Carolina's appears more technical and thoughtful, California's is definitely the most creative while Florida's Sunlink seems stale.

New Technology available in the Library!
We purchased 6Kindles (electronic readers) and an IPad now available for staff to check out and use with students. We would appreciate suggestions as to which books and applications you believe would be helpful to load on to the new equipment. We would like staff and students to use new technology and become aware what is available and how to use it.
We also purchased two scanners which will be available in the library for staff and student use. October 2010 - The scanners are up and running. The IPad is not. Sorry.

Destiny Quest
We updated our library software to include Destiny Quest/Title Peak. The students may now search and see a visual of the book, see which books are around it, search books "like" a book they have read and enjoyed, keep a list of which books they may like and read reviews of books. This is a wonderful feature.

International Children's Digital Library
This group has digitized hundreds of children's books from around the world. The majority of books are available in many languages and project well on the iBoards. It may be beneficial to play around with the sizing/full screen view.
